Raised in Brisbane, Australia, Byron completed dual degrees in Economics
and Law at the University of Queensland. He pursued his interest in public
policy throughout his undergraduate studies, interning in the U.S. Senate, the
UN Economic Commission for Africa and the Reserve Bank of Australia. He was
also an Australian delegate to the APEC Conference 2012 and has worked in
microfinance in Bangladesh and in human rights documentation in India. After graduating Byron worked as a management consultant for McKinsey & Company. At McKinsey, he gained experience on a number of projects in extractive industries which allowed him to further his interest in the resources policy following his undergraduate thesis examining the relationship between resource wealth and income inequality. Before coming to Cambridge, Byron completed a Master of Financial Economics at the University of Oxford.
