My name is Simon Durmanic, and I was born and grew up in Melbourne, Australia. I studied a double degree in Civil Engineering and Mathematics at Monash University, and after this I worked for a construction contractor building marine infrastructure for three years.
The next stage of my career is the Masters of Public Policy at Cambridge University, where I hope to learn the skills necessary to make a positive impact in the public sphere. I have a broad range of intellectual interests, and I plan to focus my studies on inequality and equitable infrastructure development. Other than work and study, I love to travel, and have also lived for 6 months in Medellin, Colombia, volunteering and learning Spanish. I play a lot of sport, primarily volleyball and tennis, and have recently started to row. If anyone is looking for something unusual about me – I have two different coloured eyes, one green and one blue.
