POLIS Academic
Duncan Kelly
University Senior Lecturer
Research Interests
My research interests concern the intellectual history of European political thought, and various issues in political theory. These range from questions of liberty, judgement, representation and democracy, to ideas of agency, responsibility, personhood and the passions.
Post-graduate supervision interests
In line with my research interests, I would be interested in supervising doctoral work on either the intellectual history of modern European political thought, or on particular issues and themes in political philosophy. Current doctoral students are working on human rights and the legacy of John Locke’s political theory, on Rousseau and Epicureanism, and the political philosophy of honour. I also supervise for and teach on the MPhil in Political Thought and Intellectual History.
Undergraduate Teaching (course organiser)
Duncan Kelly is the course organizer for POL1/14 (The History of Political Thought to c. 1700), and POL2/15 (The History of Political Thought from c. 1700 to c. 1890)
**In Michaelmas 2011, the organizer for these papers is Dr. Ruth Scurr (Gonville and Caius), email: rs10032@cam.ac.uk**
