Administrative Assistant (Part Time, Fixed Term)

Salary: £18,005- £20,764 pa, pro-rata (18.25 hours per week)

This is a part-time post, working 18.25 hours per week, providing administrative support to the Centre for Human Rights and Governance in the Department of Politics and International Studies. The candidate should be educated to ‘A’ level standard or equivalent and be committed to providing first-class administrative service. Previous experience of clerical work and administration is essential. The ability to deal with people at all levels is required, as are good organisational skills.

Two Research Assistants/Associates (Fixed Term)

£24,049 - £27,047 or £26,264 - £30,424

The Department of Politics and International Studies has two short-term posts (six, nine or ten months by mutual agreement) for experienced researchers in European politics to work on an ESRC-funded project on the role of National Parliaments in European Union affairs.

The posts would suit academic researchers trained to at least Masters level and also current or recently retired parliamentary clerks on a secondment basis. The post-holders would join a lively collaborative research project in the Observatory on National Parliament after Lisbon (OPAL, see www.opal-europe.org), working with colleagues in Sciences Po, Maastricht and Cologne.

Candidates are required to have excellent English. Knowledge of Polish or other EU language would be an advantage.

Teaching Associate

Salary: £27,854-£36,298

Applications are invited for one full time, fixed-term Teaching Associate from 1 October 2013 to 30 June 2014. The successful candidate should have a PhD in a relevant subject area and proven specialist academic interests in Comparative Politics or International Relations. The ideal applicant will be able to deliver teaching in at least two of the following subjects: conflict and peacebuilding, the politics of Africa, US politics, ethics and world politics.
