Malbert Smith


Malbert Smith became interested in politics and policy during the 2008 election when he was inspired by Barack Obama's presidential campaign. He graduated from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro (UNCG) with degrees in Political Science and Women's and Gender Studies. During the summer of his Junior year in college, he interned for the Obama Administration in the Office of Presidential Personnel. Once he graduated from UNCG, he worked at the Human Rights Campaign on marriage equality and other LGBTQ rights issues. From 2015 to 2017 he worked at the Democratic National Committee as Operations Associate and assistant to the Chief Operations Officer. This past year he graduated from The George Washington University with a Master’s in Political Management. Malbert is interested in continuing to work in progressive politics in the United States to make it easier to vote, expand LGBT rights, and increase economic opportunity.
