Onyinye Okakwu


Onyinye is a Nigerian and a development communication enthusiast who has worked on a broad range of development projects in Africa. In her most recent role as a producer and program maker at BBC Media Action, the international development charity of the BBC World Service, she led strategic radio, TV and digital content development and implementation to engage and improve knowledge towards governance, health, security, justice, youth and gender themes in Nigeria.

Onyinye holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mass Communication, graduated best in her class and served as editor-in-chief of her University’s newspaper publication and as a Google Student Ambassador during her undergraduate days. She has interests in governance, policy and advocacy around health, gender, youth and children issues.

In her free time, she loves writing, dancing, travelling and participating in theatre performances. Onyinye joins the MPP 2018 program as the first Stanley P Gold scholar.
