Stefan Tan Ying Xian

Stefan was born and raised in the beautiful island city-state of Singapore. As a public servant, he promotes Singapore as a major global hub port and a leading international maritime centre on the public relations front. Outside work, Stefan volunteers actively in his community. Besides engaging residents to understand their needs and aspirations as well as their thoughts on public policies, he runs community programmes together with other volunteers to foster active citizenry, promote social cohesion and inspire public trust in the government. In addition, Stefan also wears the hat of a proud national serviceman in the Singapore Armed Forces.

Stefan holds a First Class Honours in International Relations and History from the London School of Economics and Political Science. He occasionally writes opinion pieces and articles on regional developments and political affairs in Southeast Asia.

Supported by the Chevening Scholarship, Stefan looks forward to professional development and personal growth in a richly intellectual and cosmopolitan environment at Cambridge. He also hopes to share his passion for outdoor activities.
