Supervisor: Dr Dennis Grube

College: St Edmunds

Biography:

Leigh-Anne Adamah, graduated from The University of West London with a First Class Honours degree in Social Work. After graduating in 2015, Leigh-Anne has worked as a social worker for three years in two London boroughs, Sutton and Hounslow. She was awared  Senior Social Worker status in 2018. Leigh-Anne's specialism is in child protection, safeguarding and court proceedings. To ensure security of the children’s welfare, she would explore various options of intervention such as intermediate and long-term care plans.

After what was an equally challenging and rewarding role, she is joining the MPP having recently completed a three-month volunteering programme in Nigeria with Voluntary Services Overseas (VSO).

There she worked with the district school board in Apata of Kwara state to pilot new strategies with a view to improving the quality of education in public schools within that region. It was an opportunity to trial teaching methods that have been successful in other schools of similar profile, and to contribute to the simultaneous development of the students and the faculty.

Leigh-Anne is keen to merge her specialism in Child Protection with Public Policy, to ascertain positive outcomes for vulnerable children.
