Biography

I am a lawyer and changemaker. Throughout my life, I have always strived to challenge inequality and to support the vulnerable. I believe the cornerstone of changemaking is meaningful collaboration, building strong organizations and lasting partnerships. I have a Master of Law from the University College London and a Bachelor of Law from the Government Law College, Mumbai.

In my capacity as a lawyer, I have worked on public interest litigations in the Supreme Court of India, the Bombay High Court, and the Delhi High Court. Some of the cause areas have been the protection of the forests, seeking action against the wildlife trade, and the prohibition of intensive animal agriculture.

As a changemaker, I have advised and worked with some of India’s leading philanthropies such as the Azim Premji Philanthropic Initiatives’, Courts and Criminal Justice Programme, where our programme has secured bail for over 1,000 underprivileged undertrial prisoners. I was appointed as the ‘Government and Legal Specialist’ with the Tata Trusts’, Animal Care Team, where we are building an animal hospital in Mumbai. I worked with The Good Food Institute, India (GFI) as their ‘Strategic Partnerships Specialist’. GFI is building the alternative protein sector in a bid to combat malnutrition and feed the world’s population sustainably.

In addition to this, I advise the Government of Maharashtra and several non-profits pro bono.

Research

Environmental law, climate law, animal rights law and the creation of a regulatory path to market for alternative protein products such as cultivated meat.
