Biography

Annie is the former Policy and Media Advisor to a Federal Member of Parliament in Australia, advising across policy areas such as economic, employment and skills policy, with particular expertise in immigration policy. Her most recent contributions include advice to government on the future of the skilled migration program and the development of solutions to labour shortages arising from international border closures during the pandemic.

In 2020, alongside working as a policy and media advisor, Annie established herself as an independent consultant, recently helping the Australian arm of a global organisation focused on reducing child poverty to develop internal research capacity. Annie holds a Bachelor of Commerce and has worked in the private and non-profit sectors delivering strategy and research for executives in the education, government and aged care sectors. She also taught workforce demography and planning at Macquarie University in Sydney, Australia.

Annie is passionate about delivering effective policy solutions to complex problems. Annie’s pursuit of the MPhil in Public Policy is motivated by her desire to develop evidence-based solutions to problems whilst navigating scarce resources, competing needs and conflicting political interests.

Annie is a keen observer of the relationship between politics and policy formulation and is an avid reader and takes every opportunity to enjoy the outdoors through kayaking, running or tennis.
