Department of Politics and International Studies (POLIS)

I’m originally from Lucknow, the capital of the largest Indian State- Uttar Pradesh. After completing my Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and law, I joined the prestigious Indian Civil Services. For more than four years, I have been in leadership roles in grassroots governance in India focusing on efficient railway operations, sustainable expansion of infrastructure and welfare of Indian citizens through rail led development. I have worked extensively for labour rights and welfare and overseen the largest labour migration in Independent India during the COVID lockdown in 2020. I have also been a champion of animal rights and environment conservation, having been an active volunteer for animal rescue and also developed strategies to mitigate the impact of linear intrusions like Railways, roadways on forests and wildlife.

My research interests include role of civil services in developing economies, labour rights and welfare, human rights, prevention of corruption and transparency in government, environment protection and sustainable development
