Thesis Title: Against Political Adultism: A Critical Analysis of Young People’s Historical and Contemporary Political Status
Christopher-David Preclik is a PhD Candidate in Politics and International Studies at the University of Cambridge. His doctoral research is funded by the Cusanuswerk, the Cambridge Political Economy Society Trust, the Dräger-Stiftung, the Meininghaus Stiftung, the Erwin-Stein-Stiftung, and the Kurt Hahn Trust. He has served as PhD Student Representative and Associate Editor of the Cambridge Review of International Affairs.
He holds a BSc in Psychology from the University of Groningen and an MA in Political Theory with Distinction from Goethe University Frankfurt and TU Darmstadt.
Research
Christopher-David’s research addresses young people’s waning political influence in aging democracies and explores institutional solutions to strengthening their position. He is developing the idea of political adultism as a conceptual alternative to existing notions of ageism and adultism and as an analytical lens for young people to make sense of their underprivileged role as political actors.
