In cases of acute hardship resulting from unforeseen circumstances, students on the MPhil in Politics and International Studies or the MPhil in Public Policy may apply to the Departmental MPhil Student Hardship Fund. The hardship fund makes small one-off payments of up to £300.

Examples of unforeseen circumstances include essential travel because of a family illness or bereavement or funds needed to complete your studies.

To apply:

  • Applicants should complete a form explaining their circumstances and need.
  • They should get the approval of their Course Director
  • Then send the form to their MPhil administrator.

Following approval from the Chair of the Postgraduate Education Committee, a cheque will be raised for the student.
